Professor Liu Hui, doctoral supervisor and the Vice Dean of the School of Physics at Nanjing University, the Deputy Director of the National Laboratory of Solid State Microstructures. He received a PhD in physics from Nanjing University in 2003, completed his postdoctoral work at the University of California, Berkeley from 2004-2005, and was a visiting scholar at the University of Stuttgart, Germany in 2008 and the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 2009. In 2011, he was selected for the Ministry of Education's "New Century Excellent Talents Support Plan" and in 2012, he was selected for the "Dengfeng Talent Plan B" at Nanjing University. In 2014, he was awarded the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars and the Wang Daheng Optics Prize by the Chinese Optical Society. His research achievements were also selected as the "Important Achievements in Chinese Optics" by the Chinese Optical Journal in 2013. In 2019, he received the first prize of the Optical Science and Technology Award from the Chinese Optical Society.

Research Fields: Professor Liu Hui's main research areas include optical metamaterials, plasmonics on metal surfaces, nonlinear and quantum optics in photonic crystals. His primary academic achievements include resonance coupling and hybridization effects of metal plasmons, transformational optical waveguides in metamaterials, and metal microcavities and nanolasers. He has published over 70 SCI papers, including Nature Photonics, Nature Communications, Phys. Rev. Lett., Phys. Rev. X, Phys. Rev. B, and Appl. Phys. Lett. He has led several 863 key projects, major projects of the National Natural Science Foundation, and major projects of the Ministry of Science and Technology. He also serves as a reviewer for Optic Express and JOSAB, and has published three English review articles and co-authored two English monographs. He has given over 20 invited presentations at international optical conferences.
